Beta testing can be fun. If you actively beta test a new software product or video game, some companies will give you the final, delivered product for free for your efforts! You might need to perform specific tasks, and you will need to report back how you completed or attempted to complete the task. Without further ado, here are some companies that offer external beta testing, listed below.
Beta Test Software
Intuit
Become an active beta tester for Intuit products, such as TurboTax, Quicken, and Quickbooks. Actively provide feedback to earn a free product and win prizes! Intuit is the company that makes. I have personally performed beta testing for all three of these products and was impressed with the response time for bug fixing and providing software updates throughout the process. When the beta testing team closed the beta test period, Intuit released the final product, and I received a free copy.
Microsoft Collaborate
Register to participate in Microsoft preview, pre-release, collaboration and co-engineering engagements for external partners and customers. This includes engagement definition, feedback exchange, binary and content sharing and collaborative workspaces. You can also sign up to preview X-Box updates.
Beta Test Video Games
Microsoft Game Studio Research
Our first video game beta testing opportunity comes from Microsoft. Microsoft Studios hosts beta testing sessions for their gaming and entertainment experiences for one to two hours in their office in Redmond, Washington. Children ages 6-12 need an adult to sign them up; Adults can also sign up to play.
Nintendo Game Tester
In addition to beta testing software and video games in your spare time, you can make a living beta testing Nintendo games! Apply for a job through one of their approved consulting agencies. Unfortunately, remote work is not an option for Nintendo. You must be physically located in Redmond, Washington (or within a commutable distance) to perform in-person beta testing.
PlayStation
Sign up for future beta tests on PlayStation. Users are contacted through the PlayStation Network or via e-mail.
Feedback Wanted
Have you ever beta tested any other software or video games? Please share in the comments, and I will update my list. Thank you!
